The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 210424@ sfm：这剧本太八面玲珑的吧，庭审戏也很爽。半年庭审前因后果俩小时完成不乏味。看的时候忍不住想这两年隔岸看到的新闻、那部不能说的提名纪录片和现在正在进行的审判。就算能理解历史总会翻页，但身处其中的人呢？Abbie Hoffman角色设定太高光了。

前半段看得有点闷，但整体看完看下来就是两个字：凌厉。
正如三个火枪手有四人一样，芝加哥七君子有八位，黑人doesn't count。白左小雀斑果然靠不住！
本可以拍得更磅礴一点结果就很无聊，明明只有两条时间线穿插，却依然混乱不该被安插的成分被加入超量，不如做一页ppt来得清晰。我都怀疑我和热评看的不是一部电影。
剪辑凌厉（但有一处扰乱故事线然而，宣讲、开庭相接，会造成奔赴芝加哥受审的错觉，实际情况是抗议后被捕、被告）。
物质基础和上层建筑缺一不可，他们没有物质基础，上层建筑也没整明白。无论是从政，还是culture revolution都没办法带来真正的改变。
Aaron Sorkin的剧本一如既往的精彩，看得我热血沸腾，庭审辩论和游行闪回间的转接如行云流水，这剪辑也太强了！结尾有种虽败犹荣的自豪感，看着Tom Hayden念名字的时候，我禁不住落泪。这片子正好在2020年上映，也是独具时代意义的。
没有感触，也没有震撼，可能是有人别有用心，评高分数吧。
8.0准确无误地拍出了这个剧本，但也被其束缚，不过文本本身所具有的能量足够强大。调度并不平庸，但只是做到了可以做到的——匠气十足的人物/权利关系网（带着压迫的法官位置逐渐被群众压下）。
我给它打五星，因为它激起了我这个学法律的人心中的种种震荡。我们的梦想，就是努力的排除政治的干涉，我们是不让司法审判成为政治表演的底线，法律永远不能成为政府统治的工具。因此我们必须公正、客观、保持先进，永远秉持着正义，以及拥有最重要的品格：勇气。 当然，这绝不代表着我认可那个年代所有的的抗议者的行为。
故事主要传达爱、善意和理解。演员之间配合地很好，同一拨演员分饰两个不同地域的人，期间的角色转换一点不突兀，甚至在最后能很好地融合在一起，实在厉害。舞台灯光主要就是冷暖色相的变化，但是样式很丰富。音乐契合故事的发展脉络，最后单纯只有乐队的呈现也是个很好的结尾方式。
编与导上的掌控力把很琐碎繁杂的长达百天的审判拍得通俗易懂，既不枯燥也不刻意煽情，更难得是从被审判者到审判者，每个人物都在有限的时间内被刻画得淋漓尽致。“Do you have contempt for your government? ” - "It's nothing compared to the contempt my government has for me.”所以，是「在“自由”地与强权对抗后仍旧感到巨大的无力」绝望，还是「连“自由”地对抗都不曾拥有」更绝望？
背景讲的是911事件，航班滞留纽芬兰小镇上的故事。同班演员，既是小镇居民又是航班乘客。不同的角色就有不同的感觉，一秒切换毫无违和，演员太棒了。另外故事的表达也是很立体的，贴近现实。虽然因事件会带来偶然的美好，但事件产生的影响不会轻易消灭。
近年来左派电影高峰，三观淋漓，结构紧凑，剪辑犀利，信息密度极大。整部电影就如同俯冲轰炸般发人深省，岂止是美国，整个世界都在经历一个新的60年代。
这个视角说911的相关故事太棒了，持续性地感慨且感动。
这才是好的故事。水银泻地般铺开，又能紧紧地收住。好像网飞挺擅长这招的。
9.11二十周年，当初岛上停留的旅客，机组成员和原住民给彼此带来的温暖延续到了现在，女机长的部分全剧最佳。愿战争远离我们，和平不易。
艾伦·索金又一部精彩的庭审故事，开场第一次庭审就张力十足，且勾勒出几个主要角色的性格，确实厉害。整部电影核心都集中在庭审，紧张、激烈、热血。最后的结案陈词太燃了。
