The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 本来拍的只有三星 惊悚氛围塑造不错但节奏还有待改进 可是结合最近的社会新闻 女性实在生活在太多未知的危险中了 代入感极强 感觉也很适合给男观众上一堂教育课 少你以为你觉得还好不至于 女性的境遇你懂个屁
主角独立解决一个问题需要花上70分钟来做思想斗争，不够“检点”的女性总要无辜受害，天降奇迹/机械降神/凶手手下留情才能幸运绝处逢生，这样层出不穷的所谓“女性电影”，只是一次又一次重复地强化着千百年来被强加于女性身上的刻板印象（诸如脆弱、胆怯、内敛、依附、犹豫、情绪化、神经质……），一次又一次无形宣传着女性解放的绊脚石——清教徒式的道德观。而真正需要接受教育和警示的群体，根本不会被这样视听上故作清高，连主流视线都挤不进的arthouse horror吸引，又何来什么“科普”“共情”？终究只是一次内部消化的顾影自怜罢了。
两位主演的演技还是挺好的，尤其是劳模姐，真整容式演技。
It's not over 'till it's over.
看完了这个脑子里一下子跑过很多人，比如说朱迪嘉兰，比如说惠特尼休斯顿。当一个人长时间绝对被大家需要的时候，恰恰也是她精神压力最大、失去自我的时候，但舞台给她的一切又使她最终成为了自己，多么谬误的现实啊，却一次又一次的成真。在舞台不再需要你们的时候，即使再热爱，也要鼓起勇气扭头说bye bye，就像当初你鼓起勇气站上它一样。毕竟拥抱孤独，也是美好的人生！珍重～
加菲猫一如既往的稳定，不过这个片子还是很平庸，犯了纪实片的通病
两口子那种咋咋呼呼的表演型人格真是般配。电影内容来说不知道它想表达什么，女主很惨吗？被她骗的人不惨吗？批判女主吗？倒也没看到。
吓死人的妆容。安德鲁在里面让我极度讨厌，希望他好好公关(倒数时刻)，别管这部塔米菲了，毕竟，这部主力是在劳模身上

又是一部典型的好莱坞颁奖季特供传记片，形式老套，陈陈相因。虽然电影十分平庸，但是劳模姐值得！不过也不得不感叹，为了梦寐以求的奖项，劳模姐最终还是妥协了。｜5.5
真心欣赏不来菲这种女性...无论何时何地都一副特别自信积极的样子，让人感觉很不舒服，而且总是一副要少干了自己的样子特别拼，可能跟我总是八字不合吧，我遇到很多次了...现实中她们多少都是五弊三缺，还有两个很早就去世了。人那么长么，不靠拼命靠长命。
一开始觉得是小男人和美国甜心的组合，可看着看着真的被Tammy faye吸引过去了。她真的相信和热爱自己的工作，要是她生活在现在，也许会更自由更成功，会更早从丈夫带给她的痛苦中走出来吧。演的好。
